Crypta announced the departure of Dutch guitarist Sonia Anubis from the band this Tuesday, the 5th, to dedicate herself full-time to the band Cobra Spell and any solo projects.
In a statement published on social media, the death metal band expressed gratitude for the three years shared with the artist and announced that they will release more music videos recorded with Anubis as a way to preserve "the memory of the legacy" built during that time.
"It is with regret that we announce that Sonia is separating from Crypta! It was her decision and we understand and respect it, so both sides will go their separate ways," they wrote. "Our separation was amicable and respectful, we will stay in touch and definitely wish her, her band Cobra Spell and all her future projects nothing but good luck."
The guitarist also shared a note with fans to explain her decision to focus solely on her work with Cobra Spell, the heavy rock band that released the EP Anthems Of The Night on March 31st. “Over time, my musical priorities and dreams have evolved and grown beyond the band's goals. Change is part of life and, as human beings, it's important to evolve – sometimes that means we need to close a cycle,” she wrote. “Therefore, I am making the choice to separate [from Crypta] and invest my energy in my current priority – which is my band Cobra Spell, I will commit 100% to my own band and my solo projects.”
According to the statement, Crypta's future plans, including a Brazilian tour between May and July and a show at the Wacken Open Air festival in August , remain unchanged, and a replacement is expected to be announced soon.
