Crypta announced their highly anticipated second studio album this Wednesday, the 31st, with the release of the new single “Lord Of Ruins”. The song comes with a dark music video in which the cover of the new album, Shades of Sorrow, is revealed.

The successor to the acclaimed Echoes Of The Soul (2021), the new album will be the first to feature guitarist Jéssica Di Falchi as an official member of the band, replacing Dutch singer Sonia Anubis , alongside Fernanda Lira (vocals and bass), Luana Dametto (drums) and Tainá Bergamaschi (guitar).

In the music video for “Lord of Ruins,” Crypta performs a macabre ritual on an anonymous figure, hidden by a red cloth. The band showcases the continuity of the lyrics with their profound meaning of rebirth and renewal of cycles , narrating the rise of someone capable of emerging from the chaos.

In terms of sound, Crypta maintains a dark and melodic atmosphere, but is imbued with the weight and speed typical of death metal, incorporating elements of black metal and other extreme metal subgenres into the track, which is six minutes long.

Crypta's new album, titled Shades of Sorrow , will feature 13 tracks and will be released on August 4, 2023, by Napalm Records, with pre-orders already available . The album was recorded at Family Mob studio in São Paulo, with production and sound engineering by Rafael Augusto Lopes.
