Crypta has become the target of criticism on social media after announcing a series of performances in Europe alongside the Russian group Slaughter to Prevail.
The Brazilian band will participate as an opening act in shows between July and August. However, the announcement has caused a stir among some of the audience, who questioned the decision to share the stage with the foreign group.
In comments on social media, users pointed out an inconsistency between Crypta's public stance and their stage partnership with the Russian group. Among the messages, followers stated that they found it strange to share performances with the band and asked for clarification on the decision.
“Would this sharing the stage with Slaughter be mandatory, contractual, or just a 'do-it-all' deal for the money? Strange,” one internet user commented on the post. Another fan questioned: “I assume you simply haven’t read about Slaughter to Prevail and are unaware of their political positions. I sincerely hope that changes.” [via IgorMiranda]
The main controversy involves the lead singer of Slaughter to Prevail, known as Alex Terrible. The singer has been involved in controversies related to accusations of Nazi propaganda, racism, and transphobia. Among the episodes cited by critics is the fact that he previously displayed a tattoo of the so-called "Black Sun," a symbol associated with Nazism, as well as having maintained relationships with far-right racist groups when he lived in Russia. Old social media posts also mentioned his defense of "traditional family values" and ideas related to the concept of a "real man."
At the time of publication, Crypta had not yet officially commented on the criticism.
