The Latin American thrash/death metal band CRIMINAL has announced that they will release their new studio album , Sacrificio, on September 17th via Metal Blade Records. To celebrate the news, the group released the first single, “Zona de Sacrificio,” which you can listen to below.
Produced and mixed by Seba Puente , Sacrificio is CRIMINAL's ninth full-length album and the successor to Fear Itself. For this LP, the band decided to return to their roots and focus on the rawest aspects of songwriting, both musically and lyrically.
“The Sacrifice was composed entirely in our rehearsal room,” says frontman Anton Reisenegger. “The material was ready at the beginning of 2020, but the pandemic greatly delayed us from resuming, finalizing the album, and meeting different deadlines. However, I am very satisfied with the result. It is the most extreme album we have made in our career, while at the same time rescuing many influences from our first albums, with many Latin traits in its sound.”
CRIMINAL was formed in Chile in 1991 and has since been a leading force in South American metal. The group made its live debut sharing the stage with legendary German thrashers Kreator .
