Crazy Town 's lead singer , Shifty Shellshock , was officially released on the 24th. According to the American magazine People , the singer died due to an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
Shifty struggled with a long battle against drugs and accumulated numerous problems due to his addiction. In an old interview (via Rolling Stone ), the singer admitted to having been in rehabilitation clinics after attempted robbery and drug trafficking. At the time of the interview, Shellshock was at the peak of his career with Crazy Town thanks to his single "Butterfly".
The band's manager, Howie Hubberman , commented (via People ) after the vocalist's death: “After battling addiction and Crazy Town's rapid success, [he] was never able to reach a more successful level to deal with his addictions. We all tried but in the end we all failed, or Shifty would still be here. Unfortunately, nobody had the exact tools to do it, including me.”
In another interview (via Rolling Stone ), the businessman laments: “He wasn’t happy with the daily struggle that is called life. Some people deal with it in many different ways. It’s a shame that we lose so many people to addiction and accessibility to harmful drugs. Shifty was a real-life tragedy. Too fast, too hard, too soon.”
Shellshock, whose real name was Seth Binzer , was 49 years old and passed away on June 24th. Seth leaves behind three children, all from different relationships.
