Cradle of Filth is about to release their highly anticipated 15th studio album, scheduled for April 2025.

In a recent interview with Metal Hammer , vocalist Dani Filth Existence Is Futile (2021): The Screaming of the Valkyries .

Considered one of the most influential bands in gothic and extreme metal, Cradle of Filth was formed in 1991. The band has stood out over the decades for its dark music, theatrical atmospheres, and lyrics that address themes such as mythology, gothic literature, and occultism.

The singer described the new work as a fusion of all the elements the band has explored, referring to previous albums. He highlighted Midian and Dusk… and Her Embrace , especially in terms of atmosphere and themes ( via Blabbermouth ).

The album was produced by Scott Atkins . This choice promises to highlight the complexity of the band's sound by mixing gothic elements with extreme heavy metal.

In a statement, the vocalist says that the next album will be different from the previous ones. He also states that although the band has experimented with concept albums in the past, this time they opted for an album without a central narrative.

With nine tracks, no special guests, intros, or other extra elements, the band opted to maintain a cohesive album structure without external appeals. This choice is reflected in the long duration of the songs.

The new album and the collaboration with Ed Sheeran

Among the most discussed topics about the new album, the unusual collaboration between pop star Ed Sheeran and the band stands out.

Dani reveals that the track recorded with the pop singer will not be included on this album. Although the song was recorded and mixed, the band chose not to overshadow the release of The Screaming of the Valkyries .

Regarding the collaboration with Sheeran, Dani Filth states that the song is ready, but the release format has not yet been decided.

According to the vocalist, only a small number of people have heard the track, and even his mother hasn't had the chance to listen to it yet. "It's fantastic," the singer declared.

What to expect from the next album

The recording process was lengthy. Beginning in May 2024, the band divided their time between touring and recording, in addition to other personal projects.

Still in 2025, the band is preparing for its release with the support of more singles and music videos, in addition to the highly anticipated collaboration with Ed Sheeran.

Regarding the musical style of the upcoming album, Dani Filth commented that it's difficult to talk about it without doing justice to the richness of the material. According to him, there's a combination of elements from the band's older albums with more modern influences. The result is a sound that is "captivating, fast, slow, romantic, heavy, and theatrical" ( via Arrow Lords of Metal ).

In a previous statement , the vocalist, when questioned about the musical style of the new album, stated: “It’s an improvement over the last one. Same producer and production values, but we approached it differently, so it sounds quite different. In terms of vocals, it’s aggressive and captivating.”

Optimistic, the singer says that the last album was well received and that the next one will be too.

The band also recently released the single “ Malignant Perfection ” in October 2024, accompanied by a music video directed by Vicente Cordero.

With The Screaming of the Valkyries , Cradle of Filth promises to deliver another epic chapter in their career.
