According to research, COVID-19 has already caused losses of R$480 million in the Brazilian music industry

The country had approximately 8,000 shows canceled or postponed

Wikimetal has lost count of the number of news stories about concert cancellations and postponements in Brazil that we've published in recent months due to the coronavirus pandemic. So, how much do you think the Brazilian music market has lost as a result ?

A survey conducted by Data SIM , the research arm of the São Paulo International Music Week (SIM São Paulo), with 536 companies in the music industry, shows the postponement or cancellation of approximately 8,141 concerts, which together were estimated to have attracted 8 million people.

According to Dani Ribas , research director at Data SIM, most professionals in the field do not participate in collective entities or professional associations, making it difficult to plan in order to help the sector and its employees.
