Cameron Whitcomb , a contestant on the current season of the reality show American Idol , recently performed a cover of "Changes" by Black Sabbath .

Whitcomb is vying for a spot in the show's Top 10 and delivered a rather peculiar performance of Toni Iommi , even though his slightly raspy vocals carried the music well.

Despite the song's sad and melancholic tone, Cameron couldn't hide her smiles and excitement at being on stage, which prompted a humorous comment from Lionel Richie , who serves as one of the show's judges.

“When you started, I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s going to sing the whole song seriously.’ That only lasted one verse,” Richie commented with a smile. “Next time, try to stay serious during the second verse too, and then go all out. Enjoy your career, my friend. You’re on the right track.”
