Courtney Love shared on her social media that she nearly died after suffering from severe anemia in August 2020, which resulted in her hospitalization (via NME ).
“Guys, I’ve been sad and extremely sick,” Love wrote. “Weakened, with indescribable pain. In August, I almost died in the hospital from anemia weighing 43kg.”
“I was stigmatized as an addict by many unprepared, outdated, and quack doctors for nine months. While I was in debilitating acute pain. Then, I met the wisest and most empathetic pain management doctor. I am so grateful,” she says.
The artist also reveals how cannabis helped in the treatment, “But I’m so well now. And the CBD oil, which removed almost all the physical symptoms. And all the pain. I used to mock cannabis/THC. And I’m not a fan of the narcotic effect either, I hate the feeling of the herb. It’s not that. It’s man and nature supporting us.”
To clarify, Courtney emphasized that despite the presence of cannabis in her treatment, the artist remains sober. “I thought I was definitely broken this time. But I’m okay. So, I’m just waking up and I’m fragile. I’ll be strong again soon!”
