Once again, fans of the American band Hole were surprised by Courtney Love . The singer declared last Tuesday, the 27th, that she will be back with Hole "later." Love made a guest appearance (via NME ) at the show of the cover band The Coverups. Billie Joe Armstrong ( Green Day band played in London, England, and also featured a performance by the English band Lovebreakers .

“My name is Courtney Love, although you may not remember me. I live in a cave in Birmingham. For about nine years,” Love told the audience. “Later… I’ll be back at the Hole,” the singer added before leaving the stage.

Courtney, now 59, appeared to be in good health after revealing in 2021 that she nearly died from severe anemia . Regarding her performance alongside Billie Joe's band, a video posted on NME offers a glimpse of Love's unmistakable voice as she sings covers of Cheap Trick and Tom Petty .

End of the original lineup and possible reunions

The official end of the original lineup occurred in 2002. In 2009, Hole returned with Courtney Love on vocals, Micko Larkin on guitar, Shawn Dailey on bass, and Stu Fisher on drums and percussion. That same year, they released a new album titled *Nobody's Daughter *, twelve years after their last album, * Celebrity Skin *. After this new release, Hole ceased activities again in 2012, after a few live shows. That same year, a surprise performance took place in Brooklyn, New York, with all the original band members singing only two songs.

Rumors of an official reunion with Courtney, Eric Erlandson on guitar, Patty Schemel on drums, and Melissa Auf der Maur on bass have been circulating for quite some time. In 2019, Courtney posted a photo of the band in the studio on her now-deactivated official Instagram account, saying they were "rusty." The post led the public to speculate about a possible return of the group; however, the post was subsequently deleted.

In 2020, Love said in an interview with NME that she was taking online guitar lessons during quarantine , in addition to working on new compositions, which contributed to her desire to reunite the band. However, the following year, the singer denied the possible reunion because, even with the good relationship between the band, Eric Erlandson could not be present as, according to her, the guitarist would be "literally in Japan becoming a monk."

Will Hole be back soon?

In fact, this statement alone, given by Courtney live at a recent show by another band, doesn't mean that Hole will officially be back. But, with all the speculation and times Love has spoken about an official reunion, fans of the group eagerly await a new phase for what has become one of the greatest all-female grunge bands.
