Slipknot , which undergo a transformation with each new cycle. During a conversation with Dean Delray Let There Be Talk podcast , Corey Taylor revealed how he created the first mask he used in the band.
“It was trial and error,” the vocalist said, “For some of the guys, the choice was natural; Clown had the mask since he was 12. For me, I didn’t know where to start.” Then the musician explains that the wife of the co-founder Clown helped him create the mask: “They found an old doll mask and I started using it backwards.”
Taylor explains that he had dreadlocks at the time and needed to tuck them outside his mask, and when he took them off, the solution was simple: he put his own dreadlocks inside the mask.
“The guys in the band are happy with their masks, but I like to explore who I am now, so I'm always changing. Nothing against their choice, but especially with the lyrics, I'm not the same person I was when we made 5: The Gray Chapter , and before that with All Hope is Gone . I'm constantly changing and I think the masks should reflect that process.”
The vocalist revealed that he works with different artists each time he changes his mask. Recently, he presented a part of the new model , which he should start using as soon as he releases the next Slipknot album.
