Read the statement.
Slipknot and Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor was interviewed on Loudwire and spoke about the recent suicides of Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington. Taylor addressed the comment made by Korn's Head, who initially said that Chester Bennington's suicide was a cowardly act . Head apologized for his statement and said he spoke with "a broken heart."
Taylor commented: “Calling them 'cowards' is a very immature way of looking at things. Obviously, whoever said that is hurt, and that's why they end up talking like that. It's an easy way to see things that way, because you don't have to take it seriously. It's easy to talk like that so you can turn your back and pretend it didn't happen, when in reality you're suffering inside. People who struggle with depression are in constant suffering. The tide rises, it falls, and sometimes it's hard to get through the moments.”
The vocalist said that he himself suffers from depression: “I have to exercise, I have people to talk to so that I don’t end up hitting a wall. But it’s difficult. It’s hard. And some people don’t have that luxury. Some people, like our friends, the wall punches back and it’s a tragedy. That doesn’t make them cowards.”
