The lead singer said they should record the new album in 2019
Corey Taylor revealed during an interview with Musik Universe that Slipknot's new album should be released sometime during 2019.
Shawn “Clown” Crahan said the band would return to the studio in November 2018 to begin new work, and no further news had been released since then.
“It’s heavy. Very heavy,” Corey says about Slipknot’s new songs, “We already have six songs (…) And they’re probably the most autobiographical I’ve ever written. I’m writing about what’s happening now instead of what’s already happened.”
He goes on to say that while he's on tour with Stone Sour, his Slipknot bandmates have already sent him six tracks for which he'll be writing lyrics, and they're "really, really good!"
The vocalist also spoke about Clown's statement that after this album, he will retire from Slipknot. “We’ve all been through this. I’ve said it myself (…) We agreed that when we’re not physically well enough to keep Slipknot going the way we want, we’ll stop.”
However, he reveals that if Clown decides to leave the band, he will not continue. “I wouldn’t do it without him. For me, it’s already difficult to continue the way we are today, but we do it out of necessity. But without Clown, there’s a thought and a vision for Slipknot that he started. He was always the visionary of the band, and without that, the band ends.”
Slipknot's last album was The Gray Chapter , released in 2014, their first after the death of bassist Paul Gray.
