Slipknot and Stone Sour on hiatus , Corey Taylor decided to discover new talent. Earlier this year, the artist revealed that he wrote screenplays for five films , and one of them is already in the early stages of production.
The film is a horror-comedy called Zombie Versus Ninja and is expected to begin filming sometime in 2021. "It's the kind of movie I've always loved and always wanted to make. And if it works out, man, it's the start of something awesome," said Taylor.
According to Blabbermouth , Corey Taylor doesn't intend for Zombie Versus Ninja to be an "Oscar winner." He just wants to make "crazy, funny cult films," but that doesn't mean he's not taking the process seriously. The artist is in contact with potential directors for the project, stating that he didn't want to take the lead because that's not his forte. "I want [the film] to be good. I want people to like what I'm doing because I want to like it too. And sometimes it's collaboration that creates something amazing. You have to be flexible enough to realize, 'I don't have the means to do this.'"
Corey Taylor's new aspiration may come as a surprise, but the musician has previously demonstrated his love for horror films. Last year, he starred in the Halloween movie Bad Candy , written and directed by Scott Hansen and Desiree Connell . Taylor is also part of the horror film Rucker , which is in post-production and stars a truck driver serial killer.
His interest in getting involved with filmmaking is nothing new either. “One of the things I’ve always wanted to do is create a film – write a film and see the pumpkin turn into a carriage; from pre-production to walking the red carpet. That has been one of my biggest dreams.”
