Slipknot played their first show in over a year on Saturday night, September 4th, at the Rocklahoma in Pryor, Oklahoma. Vocalist Corey Taylor made the occasion even more special with the surprise debut of his new mask .

The singer had Covid-19 last week, but thankfully was able to recover in time to lead the band in their big comeback performance.

As for the mask, it's quite strange, with small, round eyes, a wide mouth that divides the face, and Frankenstein-style stitching all over it.

So far, fan feedback seems to be mostly positive, with some Maggots noting the mask's resemblance to that of Dr. Decker (played by David Cronenberg Clive Barker 's 1990 film Nightbreed

Taylor mentioned that a new mask was being designed back in April when he spoke with Steve-O Wild Ride! podcast , but most listeners reasonably assumed that the singer wouldn't reveal it until the next Slipknot album cycle.

“My new mask is going to scare the kids, damn it,” Corey Taylor said enthusiastically. “It’s so disgusting, man. It’s really uncomfortable, it scared my wife. She doesn’t look at it and loves crazy shit like that. She’s like, ‘This is really bothering me, you need to put that picture away!’”
