Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington spoke in an interview yesterday about fans' feelings regarding the band's change in style, and how the audience needs to get over their first album, "Hybrid Theory ." Chester said: "If you think we're doing this for commercial or monetary reasons, trying to achieve success with a formula… Then you should stab yourself in the face" and "'Why are we still talking about Hybrid Theory? That was a thousand years ago. It's a great album, we love it. But it's time to move on."
Today, Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor spoke on the Shmonty in the Morning program, responding to Bennington's comment:
“I understand what he means. My God, I would never have said it the way he did, but you get frustrated, and you want people to accept the evolution. At the same time, you have to be very grateful that people, after so much time, still love the music you made.”
Hybrid Theory is a very good Rock Fusion album. It has elements of Pop, the songs are great, so if there's going to be a problem, it's a good problem to have. Be grateful for what you have, for the fact that people will still listen to your music..
