Corey Taylor has revealed that he will be recording a heavier solo album early next year. The Slipknot released his first solo work, CMFT, in October 2020.
During an interview with SiriusXM (via Blabbermouth ), Taylor confirmed that she will return to the studio between January and February 2023. "We're going back and rocking out on my album," she told the radio station.
“And then, when I finish touring with Slipknot, I’m going to do a really radical, ‘rock is back’ tour for solo stuff and start bringing in some of the younger – maybe not even some of the younger – rock bands, but just the bands that don’t get the chance or just don’t have the look that’s given to pop bands and hip-hop bands or people like me, who are kind of grandpa.”
He continued: “So, I’m going to try to kind of raise the flag for rock and give an opportunity to some of the younger bands and maybe even the mid-level bands that just haven’t had a chance. Because there are so many great bands out there.”
Corey also confirmed that he has already written some songs for the successor to CMFT. "I have about 15 songs," he said. "And it's one of those cool situations where I also have songs that I wrote a while ago."
The vocalist said that fans already know two of these songs. “Beyond” and “Breath Of Fresh Smoke” have already been played live during the Corey Taylor & The Junk Beer Kidnap Band and “will finally be recorded, after 14 or 16 years since they were written.”
But Taylor says there will also be new material on the album. This will have a heavier, more rock-oriented sound, while still being melodic.
