Corey Taylor , vocalist of Slipknot , spoke about his past rivalry with Fred Durst , vocalist of Limp Bizkit .
During an appearance on the show Hot Ones , Taylor was asked [ via The PRP ] which three bands he had disagreements with and that he had to rank them according to his musical taste. He cited Nickelback , Machine Gun Kelly , and Limp Bizkit . Of the three, Taylor chose Limp Bizkit as his favorite, and said that he didn't have a problem with the band itself, but rather with Durst.
“If I were to answer with the person I am today, I would say that many of the things I said were based on my own ego, my insecurities, my arrogance. If I were to speak with that wounded ego, I would say that, at the top, I would put Limp Bizkit,” said Taylor.
“Because, creatively, there are many factors involved with this band. And my problems weren’t really with Limp Bizkit. They were with Fred. You know, it wasn’t about the band. It was about what Fred represented at that moment, the things that were said, and the people in the band saying things about us,” Corey continued.
It's worth remembering that, in the early 2000s, during an interview with an Australian TV channel, Corey criticized a member of Limp Bizkit who had offended Slipknot fans, calling them "nothing but fat, ugly kids." Taylor responded forcefully: "1: I am a fat, ugly kid. 2: Slipknot fans, for the most part, appreciate all kinds of music, including Limp Bizkit. So, what you're basically saying is that your fans are also fat, ugly kids? Is that what you mean? You want to talk badly about the people you supposedly care about?! We'll come over there and take you down!"
