Album will follow .5: The Gray Chapter , 2014
Corey Taylor posted a photo on Instagram showing him composing for Slipknot . The image, captioned "Working... #slipknot," can be seen below.
Even while touring with Stone Sour , Taylor stated that he has already begun thinking about the lyrics for the album that will succeed .5: The Gray Chapter (2014), saying that the work will bring the “most autobiographical” version of him in years. The vocalist's statement came six months after Shawn “Clown” Crahan, Slipknot's percussionist, revealed that the band already had “about 27 projects” written for the new LP.
Slipknot's most recent tour ended in November 2016, with Taylor returning to his other band, Stone Sour, last year. With the group, the musician is touring to promote their sixth studio album, Hydrograd (2017).
He said that Slipknot's work will be released next year. He reiterated: "In 2019 we're going to record it. We're going to finish writing it, produce it, and we'll be ready to hit the road."
