In the Wikimetal poll, Corey Taylor, the frontman of Slipknot and Stone Sour, was voted the most versatile vocalist with 34% of the votes. Second place went to Mike Patton of Faith No More, with 22%, and Rob Halford of Judas Priest came in third with 20%.

With a raspy and aggressive voice, Corey Taylor leads two major bands in very different ways.

Many people wonder how the lead singer manages to stay in shape and perform so well in both bands.

In an interview with Blabbermouth, Taylor confesses that the healthier he is, the better his voice gets.

“I drink a lot of coffee – a lot, really. A year ago I quit smoking, which I had done since I was ten. Over the years, I realized that the healthier I am, the better my voice sounds. So I started to dedicate myself to the thought that I want to continue doing what I do and the way I do it. I don't need to sound perfect, but I want to sing in a way that doesn't compromise the quality.”

When I'm on the road, I have to eat well – as well as is possible on the road. I drink a lot of coffee but I also drink a lot of water, so there's a balance. You just need to know your body. For me, I know when I'm getting sick and then I have a certain ritual to make sure I can do the show. If you're connected to your body, you take better care of yourself.”
