Corey Taylor said Imagine Dragons is awful.
In recent years, many rock and metal artists have come to the defense of Nickelback or its members. The band is one of the most hated in the genre. Conversely, much of that hatred has been directed against Imagine Dragons . And Corey Taylor has been loving it.
In a conversation with Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols , Taylor and bassist Jason Christopher joked about the situation. Jones asked if the band would do Nickelback covers at shows, to which Taylor laughed.
Jones then said that Nickelback is the scapegoat of rock and roll. Taylor agreed and added, “They’re passing the baton to Imagine Dragons. I loved that.”
“They’re awful – so that’s cool,” said the lead singer. He’s a Las Vegas resident, so he commented, “They’re from Vegas. So I’m going home to protest. I can’t show my face in that city anymore. Yes, people are starting to like Nickelback again and turning against Imagine Dragons.”
"They're the hipster Nickelback," Christopher joked.
As if he knew his words would become headlines, Corey made one last comment. "Be prepared for this to become 20 clickbait articles on the internet, by the way."
