Corey Taylor , famous for being the frontman of the bands Slipknot and Stone Sour , is finally close to releasing his first solo album, CMFT . The album, which stands for "Corey Mother Fucking Taylor," will be released this Friday, October 2nd, and we've gathered here everything the singer has already revealed about the work so you can stay up-to-date.
The sound navigates between the musician's already known works.
Speaking about the album, Corey Taylor revealed that it will be completely different from anything he has done so far, both with Slipknot and Stone Sour, which are already quite different from each other. According to statements by the musician himself in various interviews, the songs on the album are part of a long collection of his own compositions that he has gathered from his school days to the present day. "I accumulated all these songs that didn't make sense for Slipknot or Stone Sour, and if you put them all together, it creates a very personal album and reflects who I am musically," he said.
Furthermore, the vocalist has already revealed that the album has “a bit of Slade in it, a bit of Johnny Cash , a bit of Alice in Chains .” He continued: “I mean, strong choruses, fun rock and huge solos – huge. It’s unbelievable.”
The singles “CMFT Must Be Stopped”, “HWY 666”, “Black Eyes Blue” and “Culture Head”
In preparation for the release, the singer gave a taste of what we can expect. The singles “CMFT Must Be Stopped”, “HWY 666”, “Black Eyes Blue” and “Culture Head” were released, in that order, to showcase the extensive and diverse combinations of sounds he has prepared to present to his fans.
The album features some unusual guest appearances.
Corey has already showcased his diverse influences in Slipknot and Stone Sour, and especially in his famous solo shows where he performs covers of his inspirations, as well as classics of his own authorship. However, for many, the most unusual news about Corey's musical taste was the participation of rappers Tech N9ne and Kid Bookie on the track "CMFT Must Be Stopped". The singer had already participated in two songs by Tech N9ne, but having the rapper on his album shows the range and diversity of Corey's musicality.
