Corey Taylor: "I wish people would think before posting on social media."

"Just stop for a second and use your damn brain," he said during an interview.

Corey Taylor is a man who speaks his mind, and we already know that. Lately, the Slipknot and Stone Sour has been criticizing the use of social media and exposing all the harm that comes with it.

During an interview on the radio program Full Metal Jackie ( click here to listen to the full interview ), he was asked about his controversial statements and about being seen as "the voice of reason," and he made it clear that he wished that weren't necessary.

“The thing that surprises me the most is that most people can’t get there on their own,” he said (via Blabbermouth ). “There’s definitely a vacuum in this country—and around the world—of common sense. And I think that really comes from this need to embrace almost social chaos. People have trained themselves to only be comfortable if there’s drama going on, which is just so toxic. We’re spreading this toxicity to people that can only be cured once people say, ‘Man, I don’t need this in my life.’”

He continued: “Especially with regard to social media and social situations, the way people are starting to talk, nobody can make any move nowadays without someone getting pissed off. And it’s just ridiculous. I really wish people would think before they tweet or think before they post or think before they react or say something ridiculous in the comments. I mean, just think. Just stop for a second and use your damn brain. And if you don’t have one? Don’t post. It’s that simple.”

While Corey Taylor uses interviews to express his point of view, he is currently in the studio with Slipknot working on the successor to We Are Not Your Kind (2019). According to percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan , the album should be finished soon and released sometime in 2021.
