Last weekend, the Riot Fest festival hosted Machine Gun Kelly and Slipknot as two of its main attractions – an opportunity the rapper took to throw shade at the band , saying he was happy not to be "wearing weird masks on stage at 50 years old".

Later, Gun Kelly used his Twitter profile to talk more about what happened, saying that Corey Taylor had recorded a verse for his pop-rock album, Tickets To My Downfall , but that "it was fucking awful, so I didn't use it," which he believes would have left Taylor "bitter" to the point of "talking shit" about the album in question to a magazine.

To clarify the matter once and for all, the Slipknot vocalist used his own Twitter profile to respond to Gun Kelly's provocations, writing: “I don’t like people spreading private matters like a child, so this is all I have to say: I didn’t participate in the track because I don’t like when people try to ‘write’ for me. I said NO to THEM. So, without further ado… #proof.”

The evidence in question was a screenshot of an email Taylor received from the album's drummer and co-producer, Travis Barker , after Corey sent the excerpt he had recorded for the song "can't look back." In the email, Barker copied a text message that Gun Kelly himself had written, stating that he was "excited and honored" by Taylor's participation and that he thought the singer had "killed it." The rapper also said he had added a verse for Corey to re-record, but that he "obviously had the right to say fuck you" to the changes, and finished the text saying that "he's the man."

In response to Travis's email, Corey replied that he had heard Gun Kelly's ideas, but felt he wasn't "the right guy for the track." He also expressed support for the musician, saying it was "nothing personal," and reiterated that "everything is fine and I'm very excited for him," ending the conversation by saying he would like to be contacted if he could "help him in any way."

The final version of "can't look back" was included on the deluxe version of Tickets To My Downfall a comment made by Corey Taylor in February , where the singer said he hated "all the artists who failed in one genre and went to rock," which Gun Kelly interpreted as being said about him.
