Corey Taylor announced last Friday, the 5th, the cancellation of his solo tour in North America.
In a statement on social media, the Slipknot cited mental and physical health issues and vowed to do "everything possible to be as healthy as possible."
“Over the past few months, my mental and physical health has been deteriorating, and I’ve reached a point that wasn’t healthy for my family and myself. I know this decision will come as a shock to some and be considered unpopular by others – but after analyzing where I am and where I was going, I need to withdraw and stay home with my family for now,” wrote Corey Taylor.
The singer also guaranteed that tickets and VIP packages already purchased will be refunded.
"Constant pain" hampered Corey Taylor's touring schedule.
Last June, Corey Taylor first commented that he would eventually need to retire from touring due to physical health problems.
At the time, the vocalist estimated that he would likely have another five years of touring ahead of him and mentioned the "exhausting" schedule of shows and the poor diet on the road.
In September, Taylor brought up the subject again and revealed she was experiencing “constant pain.” “It’s my knees and my feet,” she explained. “I have a broken big toe on one foot. I have gout around my feet and that ends up affecting my joints… It’s difficult. I’m not as agile as I used to be. I’m not 35 anymore. It’s difficult, but there are ways to do shows that don’t require you to be insane now.”
Shortly after, in October, the artist canceled his participation in the Aftershock festival due to a knee injury.
