Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor commented on the legacy and impact Black Sabbath left on music.

In an interview with the BBC [via Loudersound ], Taylor explained that the British band delivered the "blueprint and the recipe" for metal. For him, the mystique of the sound and the dark lyrics changed everything.

Sabbath gave us the blueprint, the recipe. They gave us the cookbook, man. The mystique was in the lyrics. It was in the sound. It was in the fact that everything was a little darker.”

The vocalist also revealed that "Black Sabbath," the title track from their self-titled debut album, is "one of the most terrifying songs" he has ever heard. He also commented that he listens to the song when he wants to "mentally go to other places."

Ozzy Osbourne 's vocals are also present.

“I don’t need to look for Damien Thorn [character from the horror classic The Omen ]. I don’t listen to Mercyful Fate . I go back to the beginning. 'Black Sabbath', to the music, and the rest is history.”

Corey Taylor was not present at Black Sabbath's farewell concert , which took place on July 5th in Birmingham. Therefore, his statement is undoubtedly a genuine tribute and a form of recognition for Sabbath.
