Shawn “Clown” Crahan of Slipknot has confirmed that the band is working on a new album. The material will be the successor to We Are Not Your Kind , released in August 2019.

Currently, the band is stuck at home due to the pandemic when they should be on tour, leaving them time to prepare their next album. Corey Taylor , the band's vocalist who released his first solo album during quarantine, said in an interview last month that he had already started planning the new Slipknot album, and now Clown has confirmed the project to fans.

“We’re using this time to write new songs,” he said during a live stream of an autograph session. “During this last week we’ve been having fun, eating a lot, and writing good music. We’re having a great time.”

"Since we had to take this time off, we decided to use it by getting together and doing what we probably do best: writing music. It's been so good because there's no pressure. It's not like we need to do this. We're doing what we want. It's been a blessing because boredom can creep in."

Clown said he doesn't yet know what the album's theme will be, but he believes Corey, who is responsible for the group's lyrics, will address the consequences of the pandemic: "This has affected everyone.".

In addition to the new album, Slipknot has another piece of news: in 2021 Brazil will host the Knotfest . Dates and lineup have not yet been released, but the event has been confirmed by the organizers themselves.
