An old Cliff Burton was returned to the musician's family 35 years after his death.

Burton was the bassist for Metallica and a big fan of the film Dawn of the Dead (1978), which is featured on the recovered item. The bassist appears in several photos wearing the t-shirt in question.

The musician's family shared a photo on Instagram where Mike “Puffy” Bordin , drummer of Faith No More , is seen holding the item that belonged to Cliff Burton. In the caption, they thanked the musician for returning the famous t-shirt from the horror classic.

“A huge thank you to Mike 'Puffy' Bordin for bringing Cliff's original Dawn of the Dead back home, where it belongs. It's been an emotional rollercoaster and we're grateful to Mike and the person who kept it safe for over 30 years. Our only regret is that Ray [ Burton , Cliff's father] isn't here to see it.”

Cliff Burton died at the age of 24 in a tragic accident involving Metallica's tour bus in 1986.
