Dave Grohl denies that the track was written for his friend and former Nirvana bandmate
Bradley Cook , sound engineer for the Foo Fighters , gave an interview to Produce Like a Pronesta and reignited an old question related to the band.
Cook asserted that the Foo Fighters classic “My Hero” was written for Kurt Cobain , “That’s what [ Dave Grohl ] told me.” He quickly changed the subject and commented on the track’s production, “Dave wanted double drums. So we recorded first in a studio and then in a garage,” and then the sounds were layered.
In 1999, Dave Grohl denied that the song was written for his friend and former Nirvana bandmate, saying it was about an ordinary man. When the interviewer pressed the issue, Grohl began playing the guitar.
And the doubt remains.
