Chrissie Hynde , vocalist of the legendary band The Pretenders , has announced that she will release a solo album featuring covers of Bob Dylan.

Standing in the Doorway will be released on May 21st, in time to celebrate Dylan's 80th birthday. The songs were created remotely during quarantine by Chrisse and James Walbourne , guitarist and music producer who is Dylan's partner in The Pretenders.

“We were already a few weeks into lockdown last year when James sent me 'Murder Most Foul,' Dylan's new track. Hearing that song changed everything for me. Listening to it pulled me out of the heavy mood I was in. I remember where I was the day Kennedy was shot and I picked up on every single reference in the song.”

“It’s amazing how in everything Bob does, he manages to make you smile, makes you laugh at some point. I feel like he’s almost a comedian, with a sharp wit and always something to say. Right away I called James and said, ‘Let’s do some Dylan covers,’ and that’s what started it all,” says Chrissie.

Standing in the Doorway will be accompanied by a film featuring performances of all the tracks, to be released on May 24th, Dylan's 80th birthday. See the album cover and tracklist below.
