Chris Holmes, former guitarist for WASP, is diagnosed with cancer.

To help with the treatment, Holmes' wife started a campaign to receive donations.

Chris Holmes , former guitarist for WASP , has been diagnosed with throat and neck cancer. The news was announced by his wife and manager, Cathy-Sarah Holmes , via Instagram .

In her post , Cathy-Sarah announced that the good news is that no metastasis of the cancer has been diagnosed. According to her, Chris Holmes will begin a seven-week treatment, which forced him to cancel his participation in the Monsters of Rock . The guitarist's tour scheduled for May in Canada, however, remains confirmed.

“The best way to keep Chris thinking positively is to continue focusing on the Canadian tour, the shows scheduled for September, and the UK tour in October. Don’t forget that Chris is strong and a warrior, and he will come back stronger than ever,” wrote Cathy-Sarah.

Last Monday, the 7th, the businesswoman opened a GoFundMe asking for donations to help pay for the guitarist's treatment. A message was written by drummer Steve Jackson , who asked for help from fans with the hospital bills that "are coming in fast".

“Since he won’t be able to tour during this time and will have seven weeks of extensive treatment, he will need extra support to help him fully recover and beat cancer! That’s where I hope you can help! If you feel you can donate something, I would be very grateful and I know Chris and Cathy would be too. Anything you can donate would be a great help while he is going through treatment,” she wrote.

So far, €4,000 has been raised of the €20,000 goal. Many fans have donated and left messages of encouragement for Holmes. Check it out here.
