In February, Chris Holmes , former guitarist for WASP , was diagnosed with throat and neck cancer. The news was announced by his wife and manager , Cathy-Sarah Holmes , via Instagram .

Holmes' wife GoFundMe campaign to raise €20,000 for treatment, and today, Cathy-Sarah Holmes issued a new statement:

“Thank you all for the messages for Chris, he really appreciates it. I apologize for not sending updates and responding to your concerns, but all my energy is with him for the next six weeks. Chris started his first chemo (he will have three rounds) last Monday. They don't allow me to sleep at the hospital, so I have to leave at 8 pm, which is very difficult. Chris told the doctor, 'Did you know that in 10 years this is the first time my wife and I will be apart?', but when I returned in the morning, with a big smile he told me, 'I missed you.'”

“He received radiation every day from Monday to Friday. He had nausea and couldn't eat very well because of it, but the first week was okay. There were no negative effects. He gets tired easily, which is apparently expected. I was watching him eat yesterday and told Chris that I never imagined I would be so happy to see him eat. He laughed.”

The wife concludes:

"He's in great spirits and staying positive. He asked someone to take a picture of him receiving the radiation. Here's the photo. Chris wanted to share it with you all."
