Vicky Cornell accuses doctor of prescribing medication that eventually led to the singer's suicide.

According to TMZ, Chris Cornell 's widow is suing the singer's doctor for negligence. She claims the doctor prescribed medication that eventually led to her husband's suicide.

In the lawsuit, Vicky Cornell claims that Dr. Robert Koblin prescribed 940 doses of an anti-anxiety medication and an opioid painkiller during the last 20 months of the singer's life. These medications were allegedly prescribed without any tests to determine their necessity or potential dangers.

According to Vicky Cornell, Koblin never warned Chris about the dangers of suicide or other side effects.

“The unmonitored use of excessive amounts of Lorazepam can increase the risk of suicide. The drug impairs thinking, impulse control, and diminishes the patient’s ability to think and act rationally,” the lawsuit states. “At the time of his death, Cornell had everything to continue living and planned a future of recording, performing, and continued his work as a charitable activist,” it adds.

In February, Vicky spoke about her husband's battle with addiction. She said Chris's behavior changed after he was prescribed pain medication for a shoulder injury.

“His speech became slow, he walked forgetfully. There were times when I thought he was confused,” said Vicky Cornell. “The brain of someone addicted to a substance is different from that of someone who doesn’t have addictions. He had a relapse.”

Cornell was found dead on May 18, 2017, in a hotel in Detroit.
