Vicky Cornell, the singer's widow, asks everyone to participate in the tribute.

In a few days, it will be one year since the death of the iconic Chris Cornell , and to honor the musician, several tributes are already being planned. The main one is from Cornell's family, who will hold a vigil at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where he is buried.

The event was announced by his widow, Vicky Cornell, and will take place this Friday, the 18th. “It is with great emotion that I speak to you as the one-year anniversary of my husband’s death approaches. Chris was loved so much and by so many. The children and I are so grateful to everyone who has stood by us through all of this. Your love created a strong bond of community, more like a family; to grieve, to offer support, and to help us heal. We could not have gotten through these last twelve months without you.”

We will be holding a vigil in memory of Chris at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on May 18th, starting at 7 p.m. [local time]. We want to share this moment with you and invite everyone to join us in this day of prayer and remembrance to pay our respects to him.”

Vicky also asks fans who can't attend the vigil to share posts and videos telling how Cornell's music has inspired them. "We can feel his love wherever he is," she says.

Chris Cornell passed away at the age of 52 on May 18, 2017, a victim of suicide.
