Chris Adler has revealed more details about his departure from Lamb of God in July 2019. His replacement was Art Cruz .

Speaking to Loaded Radio [via Blabbermouth ], the drummer opened up about his departure, saying it was "devastating" since he considered the band "his life's work."

“It was devastating for me. I really considered this my life’s work. But, from my point of view, I understand. I wasn’t able to play the songs we really needed to play,” said Adler, who found out he was out of the group via email.

“I found out in one of those emails, like ‘the service is no longer needed,’ and that devastated me because I felt like it was my baby, it was my project, and I had poured my life into it.”

Chris Adler suffered from other problems besides being fired.

In the same interview, he also revealed that around the time of his dismissal, he was dealing with the death of his mother, a divorce, and recovering from a motorcycle accident.

Adler also discovered the musician's dystonia diagnosis, a neurological condition responsible for involuntary movements and muscle contractions. The syndrome caused the musician to have problems with his right foot.

“For anyone who plays instruments, dystonia is like a death sentence. It’s basically a neurological condition where the nerve that controls the movement of any specific part of the body deteriorates, making movement impossible. Therefore, this happens to people who have been performing the same movement for decades.”
