Chris Adler spoke about Vinnie Paul
Lamb Of God drummer spoke on the Talk Is Jericho about his conversation with Vinnie Paul regarding a Pantera . “I talked about it at length [with Vinnie Paul]. Not that my opinion mattered, but I repeatedly said, ‘Please, no. It’s not right,’” Adler recounted, referring to the fact that it wouldn’t be right to reunite the band without Dimebag Darrell , who died in 2004.
“As much as I love Zakk Wylde , or whoever else might be able to play, and I know the fans want this, and I know there’s this concept of ‘Do this for the fans. Do this for the songs. Celebrate this.’”
“There’s a chemistry you have as a band, and sometimes in my band, it can get tumultuous, it can get difficult, and sometimes those things are beneficial in a way that you push each other creatively and kind of overcome obstacles. But in the case of Pantera, it was a positive chemistry… No, I don’t know the details of how it all fell apart, how things went downhill, obviously – it wasn’t like that all the time – but I really love the idea of it not being… It’s not that Vinnie said ‘no,’ it’s that it wasn’t possible, any other band put together wouldn’t have been able to create the necessary chemistry to put on the show that Vinnie and his brother did.”.
Pantera broke up in 2003, and the following year, Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed on stage during a Damageplan .
Lamb Of God recently released a covers album using the band's original name, Burn The Priest . They will be touring North America at the end of July.
