“Another Brick In The Wall”, which talks about the lack of critical thinking in schools, was the track chosen by the musician
After including Jair Bolsonaro (PSL) on a list of neo-fascists and paying homage to Marielle Franco and Mestre Moa do Katendê, Roger Waters continues to use Brazil as an instrument of his art/protest.
At the show this Wednesday (24), the former Pink Floyd invited the EducaGente choir to sing the classic “Another Brick In The Wall (Part II)”. The choir consists of 12 children and teenagers living in Rio communities. This project is part of the São Martinho Beneficent Association.
According to the G1 , the group – whose ages range from 10 to 15 years old – rehearsed for the performance for four months, with remote monitoring from the show's production team. Singing teacher Nai Dias told the portal that the teachers conveyed to the students the importance of Waters' work.
Ultimately, "Another Brick In The Wall (Part II)" addresses the issue of the indoctrination of young people's thinking, who are prevented by an educational system from thinking critically.
“We introduced the lyrics, the meaning, using the metaphor of school, authoritarianism, abuse of power and everything else, and they also have their positions. Because of what happened at the show in São Paulo, they end up making comments about what we are experiencing, this whole moment that has been happening and everything that the lyrics say and what Roger himself represents,” Nai stated to the portal.
