July 20th is a doubly sad day for the music world. Besides marking what would have been Chris Cornell , it's also the date that Chester Bennington , lead singer of Linkin Park , was found dead four years ago, in 2017 – two months after the death of his friend and co-founder of Soundgarden .
On Tuesday, Bennington's widow, Talinda , posted a beautiful tribute to the singer on her Twitter profile. Talinda posted a rare photo of Chester smiling at the camera with a lettuce leaf on his head and wrote: “You always found a way to make us laugh. You always made everything better. And when you put that lettuce leaf on your head to make us laugh because our food was taking too long, you made everything better once again.”
“I’m so glad that the kids and I have so many videos and photos of you to remember us by. We miss you every second of every day. You were the best person I’ve ever known. I see you in our children every day. Lily is a carbon copy of you, in looks and beautiful voice. Tyler has your insight, your intellect, your looks, and the same obsession with trying to decipher space and time.”
“And Lila has a heart of gold. When they were newborns, you wrote down the dreams and hopes you had for them. God must have seen what you wrote because they truly are everything you wished them to be. I know you can see them.”
“I would give anything to have you back so they could see you. But that’s what our whole life is recorded on home videos for. I’m glad I never stopped recording. Today we’ll watch some of them and remember how amazing you were. I love you. Rest in peace.”
