Charles Gavin responds to supporters of the dictatorship: "It would be good to do some studying."

The criticism occurred during a press conference announcing the tour.

Charles Gavin , former drummer of the band Titãs , spoke during a press conference about the comparison between Brazil in 1982, the year of the military dictatorship and the band's formation, and the present day. The press conference took place this Wednesday, the 16th, and also announced a reunion tour with the 7 current and former members.

“There are people out there who want to go back to what it was before. It would be good to think carefully and study a bit of history to see the horror that was that period from 1964 to 1985. A horrific period in our history and, in some way, everyone who respects others fought against that regime, and in these last four years we have found ourselves in that situation again, where those who respect the opinions of others fight against this regime of exception,” commented Gavin. The complete press conference, which was broadcast on YouTube , can be watched in the video at the end of this article.

For him, therefore, military intervention is unacceptable. Artists suffered from the loss of control over their art, even having their music banned in the media.

About the tour

Nando Reis , Paulo Miklos , Arnaldo Antunes , and Charles Gavin are the returning members of the rock band, while Sérgio Britto , Branco Mello , and Tony Bellotto remain. Liminha will replace the late guitarist Marcelo Fromer . "This, for me, is the most important thing that will happen next year, for sure," said Liminha.

In total, there will be ten dates across Brazil in 2023. Each show will be in a different city, starting in Rio de Janeiro and ending in São Paulo. General ticket sales begin today, the 22nd, on the Eventim . For more information, visit the Titãs website
