Friends and family of Paul Di'Anno , former vocalist of Iron Maiden , have released the cause of the musician's death.

Di'Anno, who passed away on October 21st, suffered a sudden and "hopefully painless" cardiac complication, according to a statement on social media. The singer's sisters, Cheryl and Michelle, reported that he suffered a pericardial rupture, a type of membrane that surrounds the heart. "Blood filled the aorta and this caused the heart to stop (...) May he rest in peace" ( via Blabbermouth ).

The death of the vocalist was announced by Conquest Music, on behalf of his family. Read the full statement from Conquest Music below:

"On behalf of his family, Conquest Music regrets to confirm the death of Paul Andrews, professionally known as Paul Di'Anno. Paul passed away at his home in Salisbury, aged 66."

"Born in Chingford, East London, on May 17, 1958, Paul rose to prominence as the lead vocalist for the English heavy metal band Iron Maiden between 1978 and 1981. He sang on the band's groundbreaking debut album, Iron Maiden , and on their influential follow-up album, Killers ."

“After leaving Iron Maiden, Paul Di'Anno had a long and intense musical career with Battlezone and Killers , as well as numerous solo recordings and guest appearances. Despite facing serious health problems in recent years, which restricted him from performing in a wheelchair, Paul continued to entertain his fans around the world, performing over 100 shows since 2023.”

"His first career retrospective album, The Book of the Beast , was released in September 2024 and featured highlights from his recordings since leaving Iron Maiden."

"Conquest Music is proud to have had Paul Di'Anno in our family of artists and asks his legion of fans to raise a toast in his memory."

Health problems

Di'Anno's health problems are nothing new. In 2015, the musician suffered from sepsis, which permanently impacted his life, as he became more vulnerable to illness.

Another issue concerns the fact that he had been in a wheelchair for years. With knee problems, the musician had a number of difficulties related to movement and constant pain.

In 2023, he was in Brazil for an extended period, performing in various cities across the country, and the alarming situation of the vocalist, who has been performing in a wheelchair for quite some time, became evident.
