Suspicion falls on suicide by deliberate overdose.
Cranberries vocalist Dolores O'Riordan died of a fentanyl overdose on January 15, according to a source from the London Police, as reported in the Santa Monica Observer .
Authorities found the drug near the bed of the 46-year-old vocalist. Acetylfentanyl is an opioid analgesic 5 to 15 times stronger than heroin.
The source added that the cause of death can only be confirmed after the toxicology report, but suspicions point to suicide through a deliberate overdose.
Close friends of Dolores said she had been "terribly depressed" in recent weeks and was suffering from severe back pain.

The Cranberries were formed in 1989 in Ireland when Dolores was only 18 years old. Four years later, the band released their debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, which brought them great success.
The Cranberries' last album was released in 2017, Something Else . As for the singer's solo work, she released Are You Listening? (2007) and No Baggage (2009).
