The cause of death of Alexi Laiho , frontman of Children of Bodom , was revealed two months after his death. The musician passed away at the age of 41 on December 29th, with his colleagues revealing the news in early January.

Sinergy bandmate and wife at the time of his death, Kimberly Goss, revealed the cause of the vocalist's death, stating that he suffered from alcohol-induced connective tissue degeneration of the liver and pancreas. Furthermore, he had a cocktail of painkillers, opioids, and sleeping pills in his system.

“The loss of this extraordinarily talented and beautiful soul is a completely avoidable tragedy. He had so many good years left. Imagine all the incredible music we could still receive if he had simply accepted help,” she said when announcing the news.

Goss continued: “I urge anyone struggling with alcoholism or any other substance abuse problem to seek support. You don’t have to face the same fate. If people are trying to help you, remember they are doing it out of love and concern, so don’t push them away. Please don’t surround yourself with enablers who promote your addictions. Let this be a cautionary tale that nobody is invincible.”

I don't want his death to be in vain. My hope is to eventually start a memorial foundation or charity in his homeland, Finland, to help others who struggle with these same demons. This needs to be an open conversation, not a source of shame. We are all human, we all suffer, but help is out there. If his story can save even ONE life, then something good can come out of this terrible loss that we all endure.”
