Guitarist Carlos Santana has cancelled his Las Vegas residency shows, announced for December of this year, to recover from an unspecified heart procedure.

In a video posted by the artist to explain his absence from the stage, Santana said that he had to go to the hospital last Saturday, the 27th, to assess a discomfort in his chest. “I’m going to take some time to make sure I can recharge, rest, and recover my health so I can come back and play for you as I’m used to and give 150 percent. I wouldn’t show up unless I could do that,” he said.

According to Rolling Stone , a representative for Santana explained that the musician underwent an "unplanned cardiac procedure," but is doing well and is eager to return to the stage. The musician was scheduled to perform eight shows at the House of Blues to promote the album Blessings And Miracles , released on October 15th.
