Through social media, the Belgian group Lords Of Acid announced Carla Harvey , formerly of Butcher Babies , as their new vocalist.

In an interview transcribed by Blabbermouth , Harvey revealed she was excited about this new career path and stated that it was the fulfillment of a teenage dream.

“I had three favorite bands in high school: Guns N' Roses , Pantera , and Lords of Acid . Each one shaped and influenced me in a unique way as an artist. […] And now I get to record an album and tour with my industrial heroes. Pinch my 16-year-old self!”

With a mix of excitement and nostalgia, the vocalist reminisced about the time she first met the band.

“LOA hooked me from the moment I heard 'I Sit On Acid' as a teenager, dancing the night away at the Industrial Haven City Club in Detroit. My obsession with LOA only intensified after seeing Coop's artwork on the cover of Voodoo U.

In turn, LOA's manager, Marc Jordan , excited fans who are eagerly awaiting a glimpse of the band's new musical phase.

"She is set to begin recording vocals for the band's new album this winter and will join the band on a 27-date American tour in June."

Carla concluded the chat by celebrating her achievement: “I’m adding another item from my bucket list to my resume: to be the Queen of Acid. Praise be to the Lord!”

In addition to Lords Of Acid, Carla Harvey has a side project called The Violent Hour . Their debut single is scheduled for release in February.

Carla Harvey leaving Butcher Babies

After 15 years as co-founder and official member of Butcher Babies, in July 2024, Carla Harvey announced that she would be leaving the band to pursue new paths.

“To all our amazing friends and fans at BB… You gave me some of the best experiences of my life! I loved every second I spent writing and performing for you all around the world. I loved meeting you,” the singer declared.

In October 2024, Harvey participated in The Ward Bond Show and commented on what motivated his departure from the band.

“There are times in life when you really need to assess what’s best. Life changes. And another thing about the entertainment industry and the music industry is that it’s not the same as it was for musicians 20 or 10 years ago.”

Wear and tear on the band

According to the singer, the amounts she earned per show were negligible, stating that only being on tour for months allowed her to make a profit.

“You don’t earn a decent wage unless you’re on the road 12 months a year. It’s impossible to support yourself. That’s why I’ve always had other jobs, whether it’s painting pictures for people or doing my grief training on the side.”

Regarding the tours, Harvey also commented on the disagreements between his former partners about the intervals between the itineraries.

“There’s a lot involved in being in a band, especially as you get older and your life changes, you have relationships, you have a partner. I have a stepdaughter, and the idea of suddenly being on the road 10, 12 months a year became very difficult to handle. In a band, there are five people, and half of them might think they want to be on the road all the time, while others think, ‘Maybe it’s time for a break.’ So things don’t always work out for everyone’s best interests.”

On social media, the official Butcher Babies profile announced Carla's departure, praising the artist.

“Carla was an integral part of our journey, bringing her unique talent, passion, and energy to the band. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
