Candlemass has released the music video for their version of the classic "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath." The track, originally released by Black Sabbath, is from the EP Black Star , released on May 9th by Napalm Records .
Bassist and band founder Leif Edling commented on the cover: “'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' needs no introduction, it's one of the best songs ever recorded, in my opinion. Maybe it's not the most obvious choice, but it's always been a dream of mine to do this version — and here it is! Our take on SBS (or should it be Mass Bloody Mass?)”.
The release is part of the celebrations for the Swedish doom metal band's 40-year career. Leif Edling commented: "Not all bands reach 40 years and it certainly hasn't been an easy journey."
The EP features two unreleased tracks, "Black Star" and "Corridors of Chaos," plus a cover, "Forever My Queen," by Pentagram .
The band's last work was the album Sweet Evil Sun , from 2022. Shortly after its release, the group came to Brazil, where they performed at Monsters of Rock in 2023 .
