Candlemass braved the sunny, blue-sky day at Monsters of Rock this Saturday, the 22nd, with all the power of the band's classic and pioneering doom metal.

The Swedes were chosen to replace Saxon in the lineup, since the band canceled all scheduled performances in South America after announcing guitarist Paul Quinn's from the stage .

Despite having a name less known to the general Brazilian public compared to Saxon, as pointed out by dissatisfied comments on the festival's social media, the group fits the concept of bringing only rock and metal "monsters" to the event. It was Candlemass that influenced the name of the doom metal subgenre by releasing their debut album, Epicus Doomicus Metallicus , in 1986.

Now promoting their latest album, Sweet Evil Sun , from 2022, the band delivered a high-quality and hypnotic show, with a highlight being Johan Längquist's impressive vocals, clean and precise enough to cut through the group's sonic haze. In the sea of fans dressed in black and with painted faces, Candlemass certainly won over new fans and captivated their already loyal followers with their performance.
