Candlemass , the Swedish doom metal legends, have announced the start of recordings for the documentary 9 Lives Of Doom – The Story Of Candlemass , produced by renowned Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund.

The documentary will explore the band's career and legacy, as well as their 40-year journey through creativity, collaboration, separations, and reconciliations. Candlemass also launched a Kickstarter  campaign to raise funds for the documentary.

Candlemass recently released the music video for their version of the classic "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath." The track, originally released by Black Sabbath , is from the EP Black Star , released on May 9th by Napalm Records .

Bassist and band founder Leif Edling commented on the cover: “'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' needs no introduction, it's one of the best songs ever recorded, in my opinion. Maybe it's not the most obvious choice, but it's always been a dream of mine to do this version — and here it is! Our take on SBS (or should it be Mass Bloody Mass?)”.

The release is part of the celebrations for the Swedish doom metal band's 40-year career. Leif Edling commented: "Not all bands reach 40 years and it certainly hasn't been an easy journey."
