Canadian capybaras are named after members of Rush.

Lead singer comments on tribute.

Following a popular vote in Canada, three capybaras at the Toronto Zoo were named after the three members of Rush, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart. The idea of naming the animals after the Canadian trio received more than 30,000 votes in the election, which counted a total of 45,000 voters.

The three capybaras are sisters, daughters of the capybara couple Bonnie and Clyde, who became famous in Canada for escaping from the zoo.

Geddy Lee commented on the honor: “We are so happy that the three adorable creatures now bear our names. Thank you to everyone who voted to give us this honor! By the way, which one am I? In the photo I saw, none of them were wearing glasses.”
