Guitarist says he is grateful to have participated

In an interview with the website XS Rock, former Guns N' Roses guitarist Bumblefoot spoke about his departure from Axl Rose's band and what his relationship with the vocalist is like today. Bumblefoot's departure from Guns N' Roses was never officially announced, but after the announcement of the reunion of the classic Guns N' Roses lineup in January 2016, the guitarist says he has been out of the band since 2014.

Asked whether he was fired or if the decision was his, Bumblefoot said: “No, it was me. I was burned out. I felt I had contributed everything I could as a performer, but my heart was more focused on composing, writing, teaching. Everything I did before going on intensive tours with Guns N' Roses.”

Bumblefoot was then asked if he has spoken to Axl Rose since his departure: “No. The relationship between me and them is over. They’re fine, I’m fine, and that’s how it has to be. I don’t regret leaving. I wish it had been a little more amicable on a personal level. I’m happy with what they’re doing now and happy to have been a part of their world, which makes people so happy at the shows. It was a gift. I’m grateful for that and I thank them for that.”
