Bullet For My Valentine's new album brings new elements.
During an interview on the radio show Full Metal Jackie , Matt Tuck , vocalist of Bullet For My Valentine, spoke about the band's decision to add more electronic elements to their new album, Gravity .
“Well, this is album number six,” he said. “We’ve been around for a long time, we’ve had five previous albums. And we got stuck in a certain way of writing, a certain sound and formula for many years, and we felt that the time was right to add different colors, sounds, elements and diversity to our sound and our songwriting abilities, it was something we’d never done in the past, we touched on it a little bit in some Venom . So, we knew that, if done correctly, it’s a very powerful way to enhance the feel of a song, as well as a film soundtrack.”
“We really wanted to go back to the more technical side of the band, which we’ve shown many times over the years on each album, with solos, complicated song structures and drums and things like that, and we just wanted to simplify everything and have a foundation and walls of sound, so that the lyrical content and the vocal performances, especially, were at the center of all the songs this time. It was a different way of writing, a different approach, but it’s something that, looking back, was the right thing to do, and the way Gravity turned out and how good the songs sound, I think it was definitely the right thing to do.
We could easily have gone the route of writing a metal album, but it wasn’t as exciting or challenging anymore. So, we decided to do something different. And so we did.”
Gravity was released on June 29th. Listen here .
